Touring 6 Feet, 3 Shoes in 2022

We completed our national tour of 6 Feet, 3 Shoes at the end of 2022 and what a journey it was.

Our hopes for the production was to share our story (highlighting the origins of our artistic voice and all its influencing factors) with communities and people living in remote rural locations in Scotland and the North of England.

Not only that, we really wanted to bring an honest Slanjayvah Danza experience with us in a package that was more than a performance, a real opportunity for everyone to gather, dance and celebrate cultural, friend and family connections.

Over the course of our tour, we were greeted and hosted by some of the most genuine folks we’ve had the privilege to meet and dance with, be it promoters, venue managers, volunteers and all the people we met during the shows, the workshops and the post-show events.

We were humbled at such incredible welcomes and community generosity as much as the response to what we do and how we like to do it.

Our tour was split into 2 phases, one during Spring 2022 and another in the Autumn of 2022.

All in all it was a smashing sell-out tour that we will never forget.  We delivered over 100 programmed activities, including 48 performances and 54 participation events (ceilidhs, insights, workshops and community performance experiences).

92% of the tour was delivered in remote rural areas, which is a vital part of the Slanjayvah Danza ethos and aims!

We travelled from the North of England back home up, through and across Scotland and its islands.   We met people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and received so many positive comments and feedback – many received directly from people on the night and others where folks had kindly written in our comments book – which is bursting at the seams and will be cherished for life.

As for positive feedback from the venues, we have already been asked back by each and every one, leading to new conversations to organise return visits with our next programme of work.

6 Feet, 3 Shoes has been endlessly supported by so many wonderful partners, promoters, venues, organisations and funders along its journey.

6 Feet, 3 Shoes is a celebration of friendship across borders, told through fiesty, percussive Flamenco,  Scottish and Contemporary Dance. Storytelling and foot-stomping rhythms come together, bringing to life a story that resonates across generations and cultures.

Asleep for the moment, whilst we create new work, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes remains solid in our hearts with beautiful memories built with each and every venue and community we were priviledge to visit and dance with.
