Slanjayvah Danza (SD) was established in 2004 by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Jenni Wren to produce high quality artistic dance performances, education and participation programmes. Inspired by the arts, humanity, sciences, health and well-being the company aims to entertain, inform, inspire and support positive changes in society. Its projects and productions respond to real life stories which resonate across generations and cultures, challenging perceptions and provoking thought and discussion across a range of social and geographical constituencies.
The Company believes that diversity in its broadest form plays a vital a key role in producing unique and innovative work. Collaborating with local, national and international partners, venues and artists, SD is known for producing adventurous and original performance and educational activities that marry dance with other disciplines including music, storytelling, theatre, film, and folk traditions.
At the heart of all that we do is the intention to make a positive difference to people’s lives. We believe that in this multimedia age, there is something vital and nourishing about connecting with other human beings face-to-face for the sharing of a story or song, or a dance, or music or all three.
Within our programmes we offer performances, workshops, discussions and feedback sessions, CPD, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and social events.
We promote and nurture inclusion, understanding, communication, confidence building, independence, life skills, imagination and creativity, cultural awareness, health and well-being and fun.
